SUBMISSION: Funen Art Academy must have received documentation for evaluation by regular mail latest on Friday 21 May at 12 a.m. After this hour the Academy receives no more documentation for evaluation.
EVALUATION:

The admission is divided into two phases.  The first phase is the professional evaluation based on the applicant’s submitted documentation. The second phase is an interview in which the applicant’s motivation and ability to position his or her own works into a larger perspective is evaluated.

The evaluation is made by presenting all submitted documentation (each applicant is evaluated individually) to the evaluation panel. Next, the applicant is called for an interview based on the first selection. This interview is basis for the final selection.

The panel consists of the three heads of sections, the Principal at Funen Art Academy and two external examiners and one representative from the Students’ Council.

In the final evaluation considers the applicant's information about his/her previous artistic activities and age.

There will be an interview on 11 June 2010 for those who are called for an interview.

As a rule, there is no age limit, but applicants above the age of 35 years are only admitted as students in very special cases.

What is important is not the chosen media, but that it is obvious from the submitted documentation that the applicant has related to and worked purposefully with his or her chosen artistic field. As such, it is more the work process in the applicant’s artistic project that is the qualification than it is the chosen media, which may be any of the following:  Painting, drawings, concept practice, digital media (photos, video, internet etc.), installation, sculptural practice, etc.

An applicant may thus submit documentation in several different media.
RESULT OF THE EVALUATION:

Each applicant is informed in writing as soon as possible.

Please note that we cannot answer inquiries about the result over the phone or even if you meet here in person.
SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTATION:

The application must include:

1. The completed application form + proof of fee payment.

2. Documentation

The documentation must show five works in whatever media, which will be the basis for admission. Max. 10 pictures must be submitted of each work.

The documentation has to be good pictures or a recording of a work or a process providing a satisfactory illustration of the art works.

The documentation may on slides, prints or in another photographic reproduction or, in the case of digital projects, presented on a CD or DVD.

Digital documentation has to be in jpeg or tiff formats and attached on a CD or DVD.

Video and video documentation (NTSC/PAL) has to be on a playable DVD. Digital works, sounds or anything similar may be submitted on a playable CD or DVD:

Each work is to last max. 3 minutes.

The submitted documentation will be returned, if you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Otherwise, it will be destroyed after the evaluation.

Original art works may be delivered in unique cases and by special agreement.

The number of original works must not exceed five works.  Maximum size of paintings: 150x100cm. Paintings must also be on canvas.

Maximum size of sculptures: Height: max. 180cm, width max. 80cm, depth max. 80cm.

If the works exceed maximum size, they cannot be submitted.  No other work types may exceed these measurements.

If you wish to submit original works, please contact the secretary for a special agreement.  If you have made no agreement with the office concerning the submission of your original works, then they will be refused, and the admission fee will be refunded.

These special precautions are because of our available space.

This study at Funen Art Academy is a 5-year full-time study and is entitled to the Danish SU scholarship. It is an advantage for students to live in or move to Odense.

Some of the teaching may be in English, so it is an advantage to be proficient in English.

The study year is from October to June. During the summer period, it is possible to work independently at the Academy’s studio combined with the summer holidays.

Please note that when you are admitted to Funen Art Academy, all information from the Academy to the students will be done via the Internet, and we therefore recommend that you create an e-mail address in advance.
